SUMMARY

Weld parts and components for the manufacture of ventilation systems, stall systems, and other J&D Manufacturing products. Work with metal saws, drills, and spray booth as needed. Additional responsibilities include department administration and supervising employees.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements and qualifications listed below are representative of the essential duties, knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.   1. Read, interpret, and understand work orders, blueprints, and production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting and bending lines, dimensions, and tolerances.
  2. Responsible for acquisition of stock to proper machines.
  3. Ensure machine is properly set up to produce specific orders.
  4. Verify that all products are accurate and free of defects.
  5. Correctly mark identifying information, such as part numbers, on work piece.
  6. Set up, operate, and tend welding machines that join or bond components to fabricate metal parts.
  7. Load or feed parts into welding machines in order to join or bond components.
  8. Assemble, align, and clamp work pieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components.
  9. Correct problems by adjusting controls or by stopping machines and opening holding devices.
  10. Complete daily and monthly inspections and complete checklists for verification (respirator, crane, etc.)
  11. Inspect, measure, or test completed metal work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
  12. Record completion of metalworking on specified work orders.
  13. Prepare products for painting.
  14. Paint products to customer specifications according to work orders and blueprints.
  15. Check that all products are properly painted and free of defect.
  16. Coordinate distribution of finished work orders to subsequent departments.
  17. Assist in metal saw, drill, and paint booth departments as necessary.
  18. Identify that needed equipment maintenance is reported via a maintenance request form and given to Production Supervisor.
  19. Follow all safety precautions and use protective equipment as required.
  20. Identify and immediately correct any safety hazards in work area and ensure that employees in work area abide by all safety rules.
  21. Delegate daily duties to department employees.
  22. Verify completion of duties and/or projects by department employees.
  23. Complete and verify appropriate paperwork, including work orders, inventory forms, and bill of materials.
  24. Complete order requisitions to request raw materials and/or supplies as needed.
  25. Verify and sign off on work orders that all correct components are pulled for production run.
  26. Perform routine quality check, both written and oral.
  27. Assist in identifying and resolving quality problems.
  28. Ensure department is correctly set up and materials ready for work 15 minutes prior to shift during peak season.
  29. Train all employees within the department.
  30. Confer and correspond with other departments to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non conformance to specifications.
  31. Read and interpret written instructions.
  32. Follow good housekeeping practices.
  33. Communicate openly and professionally between departments, management and production employees.
  34. Attend weekly lead meetings.
  35. Recommend disciplinary measures as needed and participate in disciplinary and other employee meetings.
  36. Regularly appraise performance of department employees.
  37. Provide input on existing or new procedures.
  38. Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices and make suggestions to improve working conditions.
  39. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  40. Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

An Associate’s Degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

Research, develop, design, and create new products for J&D and make improvements to existing products. Utilize market research and field experience in developing products, technical product specifications and packaging.

  1. Design and develop new and innovative products utilizing industry best practices.
  2. Suggest new products or improvements to existing products based on research and feedback from market, sales, marketing and ownership.
  3. Design packaging internally or externally using approved vendors.
  4. Assist with the research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility and cost requirements of designs or applications.
  5. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  6. Research, design and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, systems and process to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  7. Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
  8. Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
  9. Create prototype drawings and follow them through the prototype runs, design rework, final runs, final BOMs, Routes and drawings.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to develop all product labeling information (brand recognition, product specs, and quality).
  11. Contribute in the creation of technical documentation, instructions and training materials.
  12. Develop test plans and conduct product testing and validation.
  13. Setup BOMs and routes in ERP system.
  14. Completion of New Product Request Forms, Pricing Request Forms and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) accurately and within specified time periods.
  15. Assist in researching market feasibility with the Marketing and Sales Department.
  16. Research Competitor’s products including benefits and features.
  17. Confer with Engineers and other personnel to create and implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information.
  18. Assist to provide customer support for controls, electrical, and ventilation issues.
  19. Assist to maintain test chamber documentation, testing data and certification.
  20. Provide feedback to other engineers on customer problems and needs.
  21. Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree and 5-10 years related experience and/or training.  Minimum of two years of experience with Solidworks is required.  Experience creating and working with Bills of Materials and Routes is required.  Electrical and ventilation experience preferred.

Pay: Starting rate of pay is $14.00/hr + based off experience.

  • Experience nesting, troubleshooting and performing basic maintenance on a CNC Mazak and Cincinnati Laser

Job Responsibilities Include: 

  • Determine proper arrangement of orders according to production schedules and work orders.
  • Read, interpret, and understand work orders, drawings, and production schedules to determine specifications, such as material to be used, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Review all nests for sheet utilization and accuracy prior to running machine.
  • Verify parts are set to the correct revision level, downloading from the T drive as necessary.
  • Ensure lasers are loaded with correct material.
  • Set up CNC programs according to work order specifications.
  • Perform CNC programming operations.
  • Verify orders are accurately and efficiently produced by the machines.
  • Unload laser and check for quality of all parts produced.
  • Coordinate distribution of finished work orders to subsequent departments.
  • Complete order request forms for needed inventory.
  • Report levels of in-stock materials weekly.
  • Identify needed maintenance of machines and ensure that parts and lasers are ordered and replaced.
  • Complete daily and monthly crane inspections and complete checklists for verification.
  • Performs card shots, tape shots, etc. to trouble shoot performance issues.
  • Follow good housekeeping practices.
  • Identify and resolve basic quality issues.
  • Follow all safety precautions and use protective equipment as required.
  • Identify and immediately correct any safety hazards in work area.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

J&D Manufacturing, a family owned and operated company, has a great opportunity available for a driven Territory Manager. Territory Managers are responsible for maintaining relationships with prospective and current customers to promote and sell J&D Manufacturing Products.  Territory Managers support customers with all terms of a sale during the sale and after.  Further, our Territory Managers work with the J&D Manufacturing team on product research and development.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree, or five to ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the ventilation and/or agriculture industries are highly preferred.

Essential Duties

  1. Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
  2. Recommend products to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.
  3. Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.
  4. Consult with customers after sales order to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support.
  5. Prepare estimates and bids that meet specific customer needs.
  6. Provide customers with product samples and catalogs.
  7. Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
  8. Represent company at trade association shows to promote products.
  9. Arrange and direct delivery and installation of products and equipment.
  10. Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  11. Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports.
  12. Make recommendations to customers regarding product displays, promotional programs, and advertising.
  13. Train customers' employees to operate and maintain new equipment.
  14. Perform any other duties as assigned.

  16. Provide design recommendations, configure systems quotes, and provide requirement information to dealers utilizing plans, drawings, and site visit criteria.
