FAQs:

Evaporative cooling is a natural process where water is evaporated into the air. Water absorbs heat. So as water droplets are evaporated, a natural cooling effect occurs. This cooling effect can be enhanced with the use of ventilation and/or cooling pads.
We know water absorbs heat. When water is pumped over the top of the pad system, the pads become very wet. As air comes in contact with the wet pad media, some of the heat is absorbed by the water. The exiting air is cooler and can be properly circulated throughout the building.

Yes. The pad must be completely wet for optimal cooling conditions.
The pad needs to bleed off between 2% and 3% of its water or the pad will start to collect mineral deposits blocking the flutes or openings making it harder to allow air to pass through.
You need to dry out your pad at least one time per day to reduce and deter algae growth and increase the life of the pad.
The lifespan of your pad will depend on many factors including water quality and proper maintenance. Typically a coated KUUL pad will last 5-7 years with good PH (between 6 and 8) and a good maintenance program. If pads are not properly maintained they may only last 3 years or less.
